Jamie McAinsh
Clan Chief
Jamie was born in the UK, schooled in England and went to the University of St Andrew’s, leaving with an MA Hons in Art History and a reasonable golf handicap. He has Scottish blood and isn’t afraid to wear the kilt.
After starting his advertising career in England, Jamie moved to Australia and spent ten years working for independent and multi-national advertising agencies working on global brands as well as homegrown Australian businesses. His multi-channel experience is complemented by a rich and diverse client experience from luxury fast cars to nappy rash treatment!
Along with Bella, he moved to Dubai in 2009 to lead the account team servicing several global brands across the Middle East and North Africa for a multi-national agency network.
After nearly five years abroad it was time to return to Australia in 2013. Jamie wanted to apply his skills of 20 years to run his own show, live by the coast with his young family and help provide marketing and creative services to small businesses. Jervis Bay is now home and he hasn’t looked back since.
Since opening its doors in 2014, Jamie and The Marketing Clan have been providing aspiring businesses with world-class agency talent and campaigns that are both efficient and highly effective.
Jamie is a SCUBA diver, tries to stay in shape to keep up with his kids and chase the family dog and thinks he’s a bit of a naked chef.
Kate Corson
With over a decade of communications and PR experience, Kate has enjoyed both in-house and agency roles.
Commencing her career in a global pharmaceutical company, Kate spent over three years in corporate affairs, where she specialised in internal communications, change management, community engagement and research and development communications.
With a desire to hone her creativity and media skills, Kate moved into the agency world, spending several years in global agencies, both in London and Sydney. From brand recovery, to major product launches, Kate has developed and executed strategies for international and local PR campaigns. Her experience spans pharmaceutical, medical device and consumer healthcare, as well as animal health, agriculture and FMCG.
This global experience, coupled with her local knowledge, enables Kate to take on a breadth of communication challenges, spanning paid, earned and owned channels, including social and digital platforms.
Kate now lives on the South Coast of NSW, providing strategic advice to local and metropolitan clients. When she’s not developing content or working with the clan, you’ll find her outdoors with her border collie, Larry, exploring the beautiful south coast beaches or sampling too much coffee.
Sally Latham
Sally’s path to marketing hasn’t been linear, but it’s always been in her bones. During her 15 year career as a financial planner, Sally took it upon herself to manage the marketing for the businesses she worked in, even dabbling in writing professional articles and children’s books on the side.
When a career change was in order after her two sons were born, of course it was a natural step to follow her passion into communications and marketing and she hasn’t looked back! Sally is completely obsessed with social media, copywriting and photography and you’ll often find her researching and testing new ideas in her spare time. She’s worked with national brands, local businesses, coaches and even celebrities. Her passion for what she does always shines through.
Alas, life can’t be all about work for Sally, so you’ll also find her talking to her chickens (she swears they understand each other), packing up the family for a caravanning trip, or reading a book (yes, it’s often about marketing).
Pete Maniaty
Peter has worked in the advertising and media industries for over 25 years in Australia and the UK. After graduating with a Bachelor of Business (Communications) from QUT in Brisbane, he spent the first decade of his career specialising in direct and promotional marketing.
During the past 15 years Peter has been heavily involved at a senior level in the creative departments of both large multinationals and independently-owned agencies, creating fully integrated campaigns for everything from banks, energy companies and FMCG clients to automotive, agribusiness and wine. He’s received many honours along the way including prestigious awards at Cannes, D&AD, New York Festivals, Spikes, Kinsale Sharks, Caples and even the stupendously named Gold Award of Montreux.
Away from advertising Peter is a published children’s book author, freelance cycling feature writer and blogger. His love of road cycling and racing has seen him break more bones than he cares to remember and he currently sets off metal detectors at airports all over the world thanks to a series of titanium plates and screws in his left shoulder following a 70kmh crash in California.
Brett Gosper
Brett grew up as one of those kids who spent endless hours drawing cars, robots and cartoons in the back of his school books. Given his ‘slight’ obsession with design, it was no surprise he went on to complete a Bachelor of Industrial Design. On graduating, Brett worked for several design agencies including Australia’s leading Industrial Design consultancy for five years, a place where designing products and developing competitive, cutting edge solutions was the norm – from high tech banking products through to packaging, branding and interactive displays.
Seeking to create a broader base for his skills in industrial design, illustration and graphic design, Brett’s next move was into a large independent integrated agency, where he was involved in creating promotions, advertising, corporate communications, brand development and strategy. Working on numerous Australian and International brands from pet food, to energy, dental health and financial services. For more than 15 years now he has been a creative consultant and has been working with The Marketing Clan since our doors opened.
Apart from making a crust and keeping his two cats well fed, Brett has a passion for European cars, bike riding and watching a decent game of ‘real’ footy. While he lives nowhere near the northern braches of Sydney, he supports Manly. Go figure.
Bella McAinsh
Originally from the Shoalhaven, Bella has travelled the world and was brave enough to agree to move to Dubai in 2009 for a change of country and culture. After nearly five years in the UAE and having had two children born in the desert, she returned to Australia and established The Marketing Clan with Jamie.
Bella brings 20 years of experience working as a graphic designer and senior mac artist, both directly for clients and also advertising agencies, with her folio boasting virtually every industry imaginable including financial services, FMCG, telecommunications, healthcare and luxury travel to name a few. She has worked as part of large creative teams at independently owned and multi-national agencies as well as operating as a freelancer before launching The Marketing Clan.
With invaluable skills in design, pre-production, finished artwork and studio management, Bella takes considerable pride in attention to detail and quality control – both essential for producing effective marketing communications. On top of being incredibly organised, she makes pretty amazing children’s birthday cakes. Just ask Jamie.
Terry Jones
Throughout his 35-year marketing career, Terry has spent the bulk of his time involved in identifying and creating business growth opportunities for major clients in both Europe and Australia. Central to this has been gaining an understanding of buyers’ persona through data insights and primary research, how the sales cycle for their business works and how to ensure each component is working to its best effect, whether through measurable acquisition, activation or retention strategies.
There’s not much Terry doesn’t know about the professional and financial services sectors, both in business and consumer marketing. His experience includes PWC, Westpac Business, Private and Institutional Bank; Westpac Bank – Consumer Markets, BT Super, QBE, NRMA and CFO Advisory. He possesses a truly integrated approach to developing communication strategies, having worked across all media and disciplines within a number of advertising, marketing services and digital agencies. He’s also an excellent project manager and has a practical understanding of the processes needed to ensure campaigns are developed on brief, on time and on budget.
Away from marketing, Terry is an avid golfer and regularly sails. His passion for sport extends to coaching and managing his local soccer team to following Derby County. Oh, and if Wales is playing in the rugby, best you call back later.
Toby Carter
Toby was born and raised on the South Coast. In 2013 he completed a Bachelor of Communication at Western Sydney University. During his study he was involved in art directing a university magazine publication and was awarded a scholarship to study abroad at York University in Toronto, Canada.
Since graduating Toby has been a print and digital graphic designer in the fields of education and training, packaging, B2B, sales promotion and consumer travel marketing.
Since leaving the big smoke, Toby has returned to the Shoalhaven and is loving life with his partner Lucy, dog Kazi and an entourage of cattle. A serendipitous meeting with Jamie at the Shoalhaven Professional Business Association led Toby joining the team as a local ‘clansman’.
Outside of work, you’ll see Toby on his motorbike or in his garage with a soldering iron, tinkering with electronics and repairing retro consoles. If you like retro video games, Toby’s your man!
Peter Costello
A father, a lapsed cyclist and a massive fan of the great outdoors, Peter is a lover of great ideas well executed and welcomes a new challenge.
He is an award winning digital art director living and working in the beautiful Jervis Bay.
A creative and strategic thinker, Peter strives to solve problems through clever ideas using digital channels. Peter looks at the possibilities available in the digital landscape and focuses on exploring how technology and creativity can work together to meet business requirements and user needs.
His 20 years, local and international, experience includes Creative Direction, Graphic Design, Interaction Design and User Experience, both client and agency side for clients Big and Small.
